The Undergraduate Field Camp Scholarship

Are you an undergraduate student in the UA geoscience department planning to attend field camp this summer? Do you identify as part of an underrepresented group in STEM?

Then we want to help pay for it!

The AWG Southern Arizona Chapter is excited to announce our fourth annual field camp scholarship for underrepresented students in the geosciences. We will award 1-2 scholarships (~$500 each) for traditional or alternative field experiences. Please submit your written application responses to the Google Form by 11:59pm on Friday, March 1st, 2024. For information on how applications will be scored, review the Application Rubric.

NOTE:***The Google Form will only work for UA email addresses***

Eligibility: if you identify as part of an underrepresented group in STEM, you are an undergraduate student in the UA Geosciences Department, and you plan on attending a summer field experience in 2024. **International students are eligible to apply!**

The application will consist of:
(1) a 250 word statement of interest focusing on how field camp will help you reach your academic and career goals
(2) a 250 word statement that reflects on access to field opportunities to underrepresented groups in geosciences
(3) a 250 word statement of cost of the applicant's intended field experience and other sources of funding
